Samantha Palumbo Tropeano, NICU Nurse
Northwestern Prentice Women’s Hospital
Nominated by Sara Licht
Caring, trustworthy and dedicated are three of the first things I think of when I think of Sam. She became one of our primary day nurses after caring for Nicky and Kenny when they were only just a couple days old. I would spend most days by myself with our boys since my husband had to work and it could get lonely at times. I always looked forward to the days when Sam would be there. She not only cared for our sons like they were hers but she also cared for Mike and I. She became a confidant, an advocate for the boys and above all a really great friend.
She shared in some of our very first moments and was always cheering them along during their victories and keeping us positive during their setbacks. Knowing she was there when we couldn’t be gave us peace of mind. We feel so blessed to know Sam and so thankful of the care she gave to Nicky and Kenny. She was an integral part of saving our son’s lives and we are forever grateful.
